Longines 'Dirty Dozen' Www British Military Wristwatch

1920 - 1940
Description

A Longines 'Dirty Dozen' British Military issue wristwatch. A black dial with Arabic numerals and lume dot markers, with original 'cathedral' hands. The case and dial are both marked with the broad arrow, signifying this watch was issued by the MOD. A stainless steel case with stepped edges. A 15 jewel manual wind caliber 12.68Z mechanism signed Longines. These watches are often incorrectly described as a 'Greenlander', based on the fact they were thought to have been taken on the British North Greenland Expeditions of 1952-54. The production run of these watches is estimated to be around 8000. Circa 1945.
