Description

A splendid Georgian mezzotint engraving of Mr.Godfrey Wentworth and his wife Dorothy. After the portrait by Sir Joshua Reynolds (1723-1792) and engraved by the English engraver and landscape painter Samuel William Reynolds (1773 1835).
The Wentworths of Woolly were one of the most prominent land-owning families in Yorkshire.
Mr. Wentworth stands leaning against a plinth beside his seated wife who has her Spaniel dog in her lap. In a rustic setting. There are some age related marks to the paper on the lower impress line below title.

A mixed media mezzotint in a beautiful polished period mahogany frame with corner boss detail and intricate gilt inner slip. (The top left square boss has a small compression mark..see detail photo).
