Antique Wall Clock

Description

An interesting Tavern type wall clock in an oak case with mahogany crossbanding. An arched hood pediment. A circular painted dial with fine blued steel hands. A weight driven 'A-frame' timepiece mechanism of 8-day duration with 3/4 length pendulum.

John Wood of Grantham is recorded in Baillies' 'Watchmakers and Clockmakers of the World' book as working 1753-1797. A watch by the maker is noted in the Ilbert Collection. This clock by repute was formally in the servants quarters of Kensington Palace, London.

Depth 10 " / 26cms.
