A Bone Chess Set, Denmark, circa 1800

one side stained black (with highlights left natural), the other side natural, kings with multiple knops and reeded finials, queen similar but of smaller size, bishops with baluster knops, knights as large horse's heads over baluster knopped columns, rooks as turrets with tapering spires and finials in alternate colour, in a lidded box with key

King: 7.1cm high

Pawn: 4.5cm high

Box: 17cm wide, 14.7cm deep, 6cm high
