Youngs Antiques has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
She stands with her head slightly turned to the right, lips pouting and deeply carved eyes with an intent gaze and her hair tied back in a tightly knitted french twist.

The bust is signed F M Handley Rome 1880 - (Francis Monatgue Handley).
There are some chips to the bust and a large chip to the socle and to a piece of hair. There is also surface pitting and ware commiserate with age. The overall condition is very good, the bust also lifts off of the socle which has an iron pin.

Francis Montague Handley is an American sculptor who was an active sculptor in the United states and Italy in the 19th century.
He is also known to have exhibited works at The Royal Academy of arts summer exhibition 1873 -1880. Where he exhibited 3 times, 1 work in 1873 and 1876, 3 works in 1880.

I am not sure if this is one of the pieces he exhibited during that period however there is a book documenting those works -
The Royal Academy of Arts: a complete dictionary of contributors and their work from its foundation in 1769 to 1904. Vol. 3: Eadie to Harraden
1905
