The easel is adjustable with the use of the folding brass easel back.
To start with one has to get into the box, the key unlocks the box, and when lifted access to the catch on the inside of the box is used to release the duel flaps on the top; these flaps push back into position and are self-locking snapping shut.

The box is made from polished Mahogany and brass bound with two inlaid brass shields to the lids. There is a fabulous original inlaid label for C. Roberson & Co. 99 Long Acre & 154 Piccadilly, London .. Roberson traded at these two addresses from 1889-1906.
A really fabulous box in excellent condition, measuring 9" x 6" x 3" tall while closed.
