At some point the movement has been converted from verge to the more reliable time keeping anchor escapement. The back plate is finely engraved with scrolling leaf and bird design. The movement is a five pillar, twin fusee, eight day running clock, with silent strike mechanism which strikes the hours on a bell.

Thomas Aldrige was registered as an apprentice in 1753 and is recorded as working in Deal up to 1791.
The clock movement has been cleaned and serviced and comes with a 12 month guarantee.
