Description

A 19th C Burnished Steel Fire Grate, Fire Basket.

The grate with a cast iron arch topped fire back, and slatted grill, flanked by down swept sides, meeting the bow basket front, finished with a pair of vase finials. The basket flanked by down swept brackets, decorated with a bead edge, and oval medallions. The serpentine frieze, of open flutes, interspersed with medallion panels, within a ball and beaded border. The frieze joining the square tapering legs, finished to the bottom with arcaded feet, and decorated to the top with vase finials.

Date c 1850.

Height 32 1/2 inches, width 30 1/2 inches, depth 13 1/2 inches.
