A French Mantle Clock by Alliez Jeune, Paris

Description

A Louis Philippe period French mantle clock with well cast gilt ormolu case mounts. A mahogany case with lion head side mounts and brass mouldings to the top and base. A finely decorated dial bezel edging with convex glass. An enamel dial with 'moon' blued steel hands and signed 'Alliez Jeune, Rue de Temple a Paris'. An 8-day duration mechanism striking the 1/2 hours and hours on a bell. Circa 1830.

Alliex Jeune of Paris is recorded in Tardy's Horologier Francais book as working in 1830.
