Small George III Mahogany Secretaire Bookcase

Description

A very good small proportioned George III figured mahogany breakfront secretaire bookcase. The castellated and breakfront top having moulded cornices with applied half turnings.The centre section having 2 arched astragal glazed doors with brass centre strip. Flanked by 2 smaller conforming astragal glazed bookcases and all having adjustable mahogany shelves. The lower section of breakfront form with carved edge above the central well fitted secretaire drawer which opens to reveal the 7 rosewood and boxwood strung drawers and 3 pigeonholes. The panelled doors below with applied half turnings and beading and open to 2 drawers one fitted as a cellarette both retaining the original brass handles. Flanked again by conforming panelled doors with adjustable shelves. The whole standing on shaped plinth base with applied turned detail. Condition - very good with warm mellow patina.
