George James Antiques has dated this piece to the Edwardian era.
They were invariably decorated in Oriental fashion and became very popular again in the late Victorian and Edwardian period. An iconic piece of silver and a "must" for any silver collection. This is a fine example, of good size and weight, with a contemporary monogram to the cartouche.
