A superb solid silver and glass butter / caviar dish. The silverwork is a wonderful solid design with no engraving or embossing and looks simply stunning, with a protruding border around the top edge and around the base stand. The handles are a charming shape that further enhances the attractiveness of this item. The glass liner is a good solid weight, it is subtly frosted and has a star cut within the centre of the base. Clear and crisp hallmarks are visible on one side for the London Assay office with a date mark for 1917 and bears the Lion Passant indicating the finest sterling silver. The maker''s marks are slightly rubbed so cannot be identified.
