Loveday Antiques has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
French circa 1880.

?The rectangular top having lobed (rounded) corners surrounded by caddy top moulded brass and ebonised edge, enclosing a gilt and blind tooled faded tan leather insert writing surface.
There are also two pull out writing slides to either side extending the useable surface if needed.

The conforming rounded corners being brass fluted with a larger central frieze drawer flanked by two short drawers to either side. The drawers are fully oak lined having handcut dovetails with the right hand drawer being a single (double in depth) having an oak sectioned compartment with a secret lockable drawer behind. Each drawer is fully brass moulded with original escutcheons and brass locks. The locks are stamped ‘A.V.F Paris’ with a pair of engraved keys (these were expensive locks and items with these locks fitted have also been of superior quality), along with the quality of this desk one would safely presume it was made by a good Parisian cabinet maker.

With solid brass turned capitals the tapering legs, also being fluted, are raised on brass toupie feet.
The sides having a brass moulded panelled edge replicated to the rear enabling this writing desk to stand freely within the room.

This stunning, sleek and stylish antique desk is in exceptional condition and has been fully restored ready to be the centre piece of any room or study.
Note that it is rare to fine a desk like this with lobed corners and such fine brass work.
