The 18th century eight-day movement with its brass "chapter-ring and spandrels" dial, strikes hours on a bell, whilst the later (probably mid 20th century) case is of the highest quality with carved fretwork to the hood; long trunk door with book-matched and quartered walnut veneers and glass lenticle leading to the traditional double-plinth base. 6ft 4ins (193cms) high.
