Description

Impressive late 19th.c. portrait bust of a gentleman by the French sculptor Benoit Rougelet (1834-1894), dated 1884. Standing 26½" tall, a shoulder length bust in terracotta of a serious looking gentleman with a splendid set of moustaches and a fine forked beard. Signed and dated on the lower right hand side. Presented on the original, elegantly shaped and very heavy rouge marble plinth. Excellent original condition.
