Victorian Burr Walnut Side Table

19th century
Description

Victorian burr walnut side table

This Victorian burr walnut side table was made circa 1860 and we attribute this to have been made in the Holland & Sons workshops.

Holland & Sons were renowned makers of high-quality furniture in the 19th. century.

The cabinetmaker selected the premium timber to execute this order, he would have leafed through a large quantity of sheets of burr walnut veneer, before selecting the right quality of timber that had this magnificent colour and grain.

The Victorian burr walnut side table is fitted a full width drawer, that still has the original turned solid walnut handles.

It stands on end supports with a pair of cabriole carved legs coming off this at the base and with the original castors under. The end supports are joined by the central turned pole stretcher.

This Victorian side table has so many uses around the home, and as it is finished all around and so can stand away from the wall.

61cms wide (24ins)

41cms deep (16 1/4ins)

77cms high (30 1/2ins)

This side table would have originally been used as a sewing table.
