Antique Silver Inkwell and Tray - Chester 1905

This wonderful EDWARDIAN STERLING SILVER MOUNTED INKWELL and TRAY were made by the well-known and sought after silversmith Henry Matthews and hallmarked in Chester in 1905.

The Glass Inkwell has a Silver mount with hinged lid complete with a classic shaped finial. The inkwell stands on a superb oval tray which has an applied silver border decorated and pierced with a foliate scroll design and standing on four elegantly shaped legs.

In excellent condition and free from any added monograms, initials or engravings, this fabulous Silver Inkwell would look superb on any desk, in any setting or would enhance any silver collection.

There is no damage and there are no repairs.

Some minor staining to the underside of the tray (probably from ink spillage) - nothing much but mentioned for accuracy.
