Art Deco World has dated this piece to the 1930s.
The chrome is crisp and bright with no pitting, pealing or discolouration and this is carried through to the enamel, no chips, scuffs. On the underside of the compact is written 'Van Mist' with 'Pat Approved'. It remarkably still retains it's original face powder rouge and face puffs.

Bio
Fillkwik was located in Attleboro, Massachusetts manufacturing compacts and vanity cases during the 1920's and 1930's.
This particular compact started appearing in 1927. The California Perfume Company Catalogue of that year described it as "A new and exceptionally slender vanity box of unusual beauty. Substantially made of inlaid white metal and silver. Opens like a book. Will not tarnish. Divided in two by a double-faced tarnish proof steel mirror. Lip cream, rouge compact and puff on one side; powder compact and puff on the other."
