Outstanding Norwegian Sterling (930) Silver and Enamel Pill Box by Marius Hammer

Description

A fabulous antique sterling silver box made from a good heavy gauge of silver with a lift-off lid.

The top and side is decorated with a fabulous deep lilac guilloche enamel with a good bright patina showcasing the intricate engine turning below. The lid is also decorated with an intricate gold continuous floral garland.

The underside of the box is fully marked and signed by Marius Hammer, Goldsmith and jeweller of Bergen - 1880s-90s: Strandgaden 57, Bergen, Norway By 1911 there was a second shop at Market Place (Torvet) 10.

This box would date to around 1910.

Excellent condition measuring 1 3/8" x 5/8".
