English Sterling Silver Pill Box Inlaid with Italian Pietra Dura - 1900

Description

This little late Victorian sterling silver pill box is decorated with all over repousse work and crimped edges to top and bottom.

The top was inlaid with a tablet of Italian Pietra Dura, a really unusual combination and certainly a fabulous find. The silver is fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1900 together with the makers mark for the silversmith, E F Braham.

The lid fits well and once the hinged lid is lifted, the original gilded interior is revealed. Excellent condition, measuring 2" x 1 5/8" x 7/8" tall.
