Description

An outstanding mid-Victorian period secretaire bookcase in burr walnut. Of excellent construction in solid walnut and attractive burr walnut veneers onto a mahogany carcas. The top section with a pair of glazed doors (lockable with key supplied) which open to access a lined interior with adjustable shelves. The base section has a deep-drawer secretaire. This drawer is lockable with the key supplied, it is fitted with original stylised bun handles. The interior of the secretaire is fitted with stationary compartments and small drawers (lined in birds eye maple veneers) and a sumptuous blue leather writing surface. Beneath the secretaire there is a pair of cupboard doors which open to access good storage space with a single adjustable shelf. Decorated throughout with crisply carved mounts and corbels. Sympathetically refinished in our workshops to a very high standard. Now offered for sale in excellent condition, with a rich colour and patina, ready to go straight into the home, or office.
