In A Nutshell Antiques and Interiors has dated this piece to the 1900s.
Each drawer has two small metal handles and the chest itself has layers of old paint which have worn and flaked over the years. It is well made and each drawer is beautifully made with hand-cut dovetail joints.
It is in good original condition. The layers of paint have a wonderful aged patina and the piece is sturdy and the joints are strong. It has retained all of its original knobs apart from one bottom one which is just slightly fatter than the others and the interior of the drawers is generally clean and tidy. There are some general signs of age and use and minor knocks and it is possible the side base plinths have been repaired or replaced at some point but overall it displays very well.
