An antique silver Waltham P S Bartlett pocket watch.

The watch has a stem-winding movement, P S Bartlett grade, which is working nicely. The grade was named after Patten Sargeant Bartlett who was one of the early employees of the Boston Watch Company which went on to become the Waltham Watch Company. He subsequently left Waltham to work for the National Watch Company at Elgin Illinois but eventually returned to Waltham to work as a salesman before opening his own wholesale business.

As well as being fully signed, the movement has the serial number 5,617,354 which dates it back to 1892/93.

The watch measures 55mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is sterling silver and it is a good quality heavy case. The screw-on case back is beautifully engraved, almost in a folk art style.

The acrylic lens is in good condition.

The signed dial is in good original condition and has an inner 24 hour dial and an outer minute track with red numerals.

A new leather strap has been fitted.

The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
