Georgian Oak Costrel Barrel. Circa 1825

18th century
Description

Fine Georgian oak and iron bound costrel barrel with iron handle of unusually large size. Stamped on one end Blanchard ( There was a noted wine and brandy seller in France by that name around 1820-5). All in fine original condition with no repairs. Just a little old and very dead worm at top. Lovely colour with fine waxed patina.

Size; 11" long, 8" diameter at centre.
