An Irish Aesthetic Movement Silver Plated Victorian Tray

This is a very elegant drinks tray made circa 1860 in the much sought after Aesthetic Movement style and made by William Gibson & Co. of Belfast. Gibson is a significant figure in both Irish and English silver, having established the famous Goldsmiths and Silversmiths Company with John Langman in 1880.

An impressive example, this is of octagonal form with a raised border and shell and scroll feet. The body is beautifully engraved with birds, plants and butterflies, in the Aesthetic Movement taste and to the centre is an unengraved area for a monogram or crest. It was A wonderful piece, both practical and decorative. Dimensions below.
