Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

George III furniture, spanning from 1760 to 1820, is defined by classical proportions, symmetry, and fine craftsmanship. Cabinetmakers during this period favoured Cuban and West Indian mahogany, incorporating neoclassical and Chippendale influences such as straight square legs, delicate fretwork brackets, and moulded drawer fronts.

Primary timbers selected for high-quality pieces included dense mahogany, praised for its deep colour and durability. Secondary timbers, such as pine or oak, were utilised for drawer linings, while cast brass was standard for handles, keyhole escutcheons, and structural fittings.

Authentic pieces feature hand-cut dovetail joints on the drawer construction, irregular hand-planed secondary surfaces, and natural oxidation on unvarnished wood underside areas. Cast brass hardware from the period typically shows minor casting irregularities and original mounting threads or nut fixings.

A Georgian side table works well as a console in a hallway, a compact writing desk in a study, or a side surface in a living room. Placing modern artwork or simple ceramic lamps above or on the dark wood surface creates an effective visual contrast between historical craftsmanship and contemporary aesthetics.

Maintain the original patina by dusting regularly with a dry, soft microfibre cloth and applying a pure beeswax polish once or twice a year. Keep the item away from direct sunlight, central heating radiators, and damp environments to prevent wood shrinkage, warping, or finish deterioration.
