Carriage Clock By Dent , 61 The Strand , London .

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Its About Time

A fine gilt ''push repeat'' carriage clock which was retailed by the very well known clockmakers Dent. In 1852 Dent won the commission to make the ''Great clock'' of Westminster known fondly as ''Big Ben'' . Frederick Rippon Dent finished the great clock in 1854 and his business carried on until 1966. This fine clock would have been made around the 1890''s. The case is a variation of the standard ''Corniche'' and is finished in satin Gilt . The dial is white enamel and perfect with no hairlines or chips and signed with a fine pair of moon hands . The movement which is now fully overhauled has gong striking on the hour with one blow for the half hour and of course, push repeat . A very attractive clock which would make a good investment piece. 24 month Guarantee.
