River View - Antique Oil Painting

1920 - 1940
Description

Signed oil on canvas showing a view of the River Lesse. The painting is in excellent condition and is mounted in a quality moulded frame with slip. It is signed by the Belgium artist Paul Van Hoye (1868 - 1962) who was an artist and decorator. The painting dates from around 1930.

Van Hoye studied in Namur and then later at the Academy of Brussels (1906 -1907). He painted mainly views of the Ardennes landscape, the Meuse, forests as well as still lifes and has a sensitive touch to his work. In 1910 he co directed the "Panorama de Rio de Janerio" for the "Exposition Universelle de Bruxelles and exhibited his work between 1929 and 1960.
