Mid C19th British cast-iron 'coat of arms' or Royal cypher with traces of original polychrome painted decoration.

Well -cast Royal Coat of Arms with rampant lion and unicorn side supports bearing central crest . Bearing the tradition inscription and cypher of the British monarchy "Dieu et mon Droit" across the base.

Nicely aged patina with good colourful muted traces of the original polychrome decoration .

The material used suggests it was produced for display externally , perhaps either to signify the award of a Royal warrant , or to designate a military or official premises .

Possibly produced by the Coalbrookdale Foundry , a company renowned for the production of high-quality iron casting in this period .

Minor historic 'nibbles' or losses to some extremities.
