A top quality box having been professionally polished to it's original former glory.

Very stylish and unusual for Boulle with a clear Art Nouveau design c.1900 / 1910.

The Tortoiseshell was attached to the hardwood frame with coloured matter below (in this case red) to give this highly sought after reddish-orange colouring to these works of art. This process first developed by the French cabinetmaker, André-Charles Boulle (11 November 1642 – 28 February 1732, highly popular in nineteenth century Britain into the very early 20th century.

The box is perfect for Jewelry, cufflinks or wrist watches, with the interior professionally lined in a soft faux suede.
