Fine Pair Antique English Military Issue Binoculars C.1917

Description

A handsome pair of British issued First World War leather and polished brass binoculars together with it's original leather case.

The velvet lined interior of the case lid is printed with the retailer's name and address " W Watson & Sons Ltd. - Established 1837 - 313 High Holburn, London - Opticians to H M Government ".

This coincides with the makers mark engraved into the polished brass. The brass, leather on the binoculars and the leather case are all marked with the crow's foot war office mark.

They have folding eye shades and build in sun shades to the lens.

One of the finest pairs we have had and in excellent condition. The case measures 8 1/2" x 6" x 3 1/4" ; the binoculars measure 6 1/4" expanding to 8" when fully extended x 5" x 2 1/4". Dating to c.1916 / 1917.
