Gents 1950s Gothamatic Wrist Watch, Power Reserve

Gents 1950s Gothamatic wrist watch.

The watch has a Swiss automatic movement, an AS 1382N, which is working nicely. The rotor is signed Gothmatic, Gotham Watch Co Inc. Gotham would have imported the movement for finishing and casing.

Gotham was a brand of the Ollendorff Watch Company. They were based in New York and were active in the late 19th Century and first half of the 20th Century.

The watch measures 31mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs, it would suit a slimmer wrist. The case is gold capped so it has a thick coat of gold on top of the lugs and the bezel is gold. The case is in very nice condition and the case back is signed both on the inside and the outside with the Gotham name. The original winding crown has been replaced with a Benrus crown at some stage in its life.

The lens in good condition.

The signed dial has a power reserve indicator at the top, centre seconds hand with pointer end and minute markers. There is a little marking but not too detrimental at all.

A new leather strap has been fitted.

The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
