Antique Cromwellian Oak Chest Sword Box C1640

Description

This is a lovely antique original cromwellian oak chest or sword box and dating from around 1640-60 and the time of the restoration. It has a plank top with moulded and scalloped edge with its original iron lock plate and clasp and with oak plank sides and back. The whole chest is constructed from six solid oak planks and joined by pegs and hand made iron nails with original hinges.

A lovely original cromwellian oak chest or sword box with a really deep colour and patination to the oak and oozing the charm and the character of the period in which it was made.

Measures: 23" high X 15" deep X 51" wide
