one side stained red, the other side left natural, the pieces of elegant, slender form, kings with multi knops and reeded tear-drop finials, queens similar, but of smaller size, bishops with tear-drop finials, knights as horses’ heads (with eyes), rooks as raised bullet shaped turrets, pawns with baluster knops, in the original early 19th century wooden box of oblong shape, with lid (ink inscription in Dutch)
