Grand Large Antique English Silver Plated Bread Basket C.1900

Description

A grand and extremely handsome bread basket made from EPNS (Electro-Plated Nickel Silver) and dating to c.1900.

The beautifully shaped basket is pierced or reticulated with a raised border to the rim and foot and a continuous repousse foliate garland joining the Lion's heads either side with ring handles.

The underside is fully marked for the silversmith, Alexander Scott.

Excellent original condition, all original plate with a few copper high spots showing on Lion's heads. 12 1/4" x 7 1/4" x 4 1/2" tall at ends.
