Edwardian Arts & Crafts Silver Pedestal Bowl & Stand

1900 - 1920
Description

A lovely rose bowl type pedestal bowl and weighted stand in the arts and crafts style with roundel decoration and stepped detail. The hallmarks do not match but this set has clearly been designed to be together and with a retailer mark for Jays of Oxford Street under the bowl I presume the retailer for some reason commissioned the 2 parts separately or possibly changed maker of the piece over the course of a couple of years. The bowl is marked for Jay, Richard Attenborough Co. Limited, Chester 1908 and the stand for James Dixon & Sons Limited, Sheffield 1906.

The bowl measures 11.5cm (4 1/2") wide and 8.5cm (3 3/8") high and weighs 128g/4.1ozt and the stand measures 9.7cm (3 7/8") wide and 4cm (1 5/8") high and weighted. The whole stands at 12cm (4 3/4") high. Condition is excellent with no damage or repairs, very fractional distortion of the bowl rim and light surface wear.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
