The Fancy Fox has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
Scrolls and arabesques mark out shaped panels each side, each one with a different machine engraved finely detailed pattern and the reverse side has a central engraved image of a vase of flowers. Hallmarked for Birmingham 1848.

It measures 10cm (3 7/8") tall, 7cm (2 3/4") wide and 1cm (3/8") deep and weighs 69g/2.2ozt. Condition is very good; it was originally gilded and traces of the gilding remain down the sides. There is a very slight bruise to the edge of the bottom left corner, no other damage or repairs and very light surface wear. The engraved detail and hallmarks are lovely and crisp.
