Victorian Button Back Armchair by John Taylor & Sons Edinburgh

Description

A good quality antique Victorian walnut framed button back tub armchair by John Taylor and sons of Edinburgh. It has new country tartan upholstery with carved walnut legs to the front and back with good quality original brass castors, the inside back leg stamped with makers name. Very comfortable, traditionally upholstered.

Established in 1825 in Edinburgh, John Taylor and Sons were renowned Scottish cabinet makers producing high quality furniture to the latest designs using the finest timbers. In 1885

they were appointed cabinet Makers to her Majesty the Queen. One of the largest cabinet makers in Scotland in the 19th century employing nearly 300 people at their height, the company eventually closed its doors in 1945.
