Description

It is a pleasure to offer for sale a most fine Lyre clock of French manufacture dating from the 3rd quarter of the nineteenth century which is in wonderful condition and in perfect working order.
I have always been fond of this style of clock as the paste set bezel swings from side to side in time with the pendulum to create a most pleasing effect and because the clock is designed to be displayed from all angles they are suitable for being stood in front of a mirror.
This clock is different from comparable items in that the main body of the clock is made from ormlou , as opposed to marble , so that the usual stress cracks and breakages do not occur . It is a very unusual and eminently more suitable means of construction.
The 4 inch decorated porcelain dial is indistinctly signed by a Paris maker and is in perfect condition . The pierced and gilded lyre shaped hands are very nice indeed.
The white marble is undamaged and decorated by well cast ormlou mounts.
Speaking of the ormlou , this clock was acquired in the most wonderful untouched but very dirty condition which protected the finish of the materials underneath . When sympathetically cleaned the clock has the most wonderful finish which retained the vast majority of the original gilding.
I am always loathe to call any item of this age as "mint condition" but this clock is as close as it gets . I will certainly satisfy the most discerning client.
The pictures should give prospective buyers all they need to know.
?The clock is 19 inches tall . The maximum width is 9 1/2 inches and the depth 4 3/4. The oval base is 7 1/4 inches wide.
This clock is fully restored and in outstanding condition.
?This is a genuine and original clock and I offer a full money back guarantee to this end.
Any potential clients are very welcome to view the clock prior to purchase (or pay on delivery)to ensure that they are satisfied with their purchase.
This clock is much nicer in the flesh and looks superb .
If the asking price is paid in full then I will deliver and set up the clock free of charge to the English mainland,Wales and the Scottish lowlands.I will also provide a 12 months guarantee under these circumstances. This is the same service that is provided by a high street retailer without the customer having to pay for the overheads
If a lesser off is accepted then this will be sold as a trade sale with the clock as described and with shipping costs the responsibility of the buyer.
I will ship this clock worldwide .
UK buyers are asked to use alternative means of payment to Pay Pal if at all possible.
