Description

A Superb quality early 20th century Japanese export red lacquered box settle. Decorated with heavily carved scenes depicting dragons with glass eyes and surrounded by foliage. To the top of the back is a large Phoenix peering over the seat, the seat is decorated with two roundels resembling bats and having a geometric boarder. The seat lifts up to reveal a large storage compartment. The seat has been repaired at some stage as there is evidence of an old split, it is however structurally solid and does not detract from the overall look of the piece.
