Georgian (Georgeiii) Oak Cased Grandfather Longcase Clock with Inovative Rack Stop. Circa 1770

Description

Attractive and Well Constructed Oak Cased Longcase Clock with an Interesting 8 Day Bell Striking Movement & Brass Dial by Monks of Prescot Lancs (George I b1750 d1815). He was superseded by his two sons George II and Charles. Unlike most Longcase movements instead of the usual Rack Pin to catch the Gathering Pallet, the Tail Pallet rests against the back of the Rack. An innovation at that time.

The case has attractive decoration to the Hood, Reeded Columns, Bracket Feet. The Quality Brass Dial has Attractive Decoration and Date & Seconds Dials.

The movement has been checked, Oiled and Tested to be in Good Antique Working Order.
