Description

Very smart French marble top bookcase or display cabinet c.1920. Original inch-thick grey marble top with moulded edge over a glazed two door cabinet with four adjustable shelves. Symmetrically arranged kingwood veneers to the front and sides with a herringbone frieze, crossbanded borders and contrasting inlays. Blind base panels to the doors with a marquetry inlaid design featuring the cabrette or French bagpipes. Ormolu mounts to the shoulders, keyholes and at the centre of the apron. Raised on short turned and fluted legs with further mounts to the collars. Oak groundwork to the doors, and oak back boards. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and polished in our workshops, key supplied.
