This unusual piece is known as a Monks Bench, it is fact a settle with storage compartment inside the seat and the back of the bench can be pulled over, it then rests on the on the top of the arms making a vey useful hall table with an 1” thick table top

The bottom of the settle is made from an 18th Century Coffer and the arms and table top were added in the 19th Century
A lovey piece in good sound condition, it is 30” high as a table and 40” high as settle, it is 46” wide and 20” deep
