A Silver & Tortoiseshell Pique Work Vanity Jar

1920 - 1940
Description

A silver and tortoiseshell pique work vanity jar from the stylish 1930's. This charming example has a domed silver lid with tortoiseshell panel featuring delicate pique work to the centre. Around the underside of the lid is a series of small holes, presumably to keep air circulating around the contents whilst the lid is on. The lid is gilded to the inside and the glass jar is panel cut and tubular. A great addition to a dressing table and a usable piece for cotton balls etc, which fit well.
