Andrew Cox Antiques has dated this piece to the 1930s.
Around the underside of the lid is a series of small holes, presumably to keep air circulating around the contents whilst the lid is on. The lid is gilded to the inside and the glass jar is panel cut and tubular. A great addition to a dressing table and a usable piece for cotton balls etc, which fit well.
