Below this is a single long drawer with the original brass drop handles and the bureau stands on square tapering legs.
It is in good condition and the oak has developed a wonderful rich colour. The piece has been thoroughly cleaned and gently polished, retaining the original patina. The brass plate handles are original and the bureau interior is in superb condition. The drawer opens smoothly and is generally clean and tidy. The bureau has been well maintained and as such there are some old repairs where damaged pieces of wood have been restored or replaced. There are some minor signs of age, marks and knocks and small splits but nothing detrimental and overall it is a lovely sturdy piece of furniture.
