In A Nutshell Antiques and Interiors has dated this piece to the Georgian era.
The table is set on a turned column and tripod splayed legs. The top is a solid thick piece of mahogany, original to the base, but which has been later carved in a rather spectacular design of leaves, wheat sheaths and thistles - perhaps an indication of a Scottish owner at one point. The carving is superb quality and makes the table a superb statement piece.
It is in excellent condition and has developed a wonderful rich colour and is strong and sturdy with a good level top. There are some small marks, stains, knocks and minor signs of use and age but no major damages or anything detrimental.
