Antique Mantel Clock

Description

A Georgian mahogany bracket clock. Fine choice flame mahogany veneers with detailed brass inlays. Arched side brass sound fretwork and handles. A cast brass bezel with convex glass and standing on brass bun feet. Strike/silent lever above X11. A quality 8-day duration twin fusee movement striking the hours on a bell. Circa 1825.

John Pitt of Tetbury is recorded in Dowlers' 'Gloucestershire Clock and Watchmakers' book as working in the Market Place from 1820-1859.

Width 10 1/2 " / 27 cms Depth 6 " / 15 cms.
