Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A lowboy is an 18th-century table featuring one or two tiers of drawers, mounted on legs that were often cabriole in shape. Popular during the Georgian period, they served as dressing tables or side tables in grand homes.

Georgian lowboys were typically crafted from solid woods such as dense Cuban or West Indian mahogany, walnut, or oak. They featured hand-cut dovetail joints, oak or pine drawer linings, and cast brass swan-neck or batwing handles.

Authentic Georgian pieces exhibit hand-carved cabriole or straight square legs, hand-cut dovetails on drawer joints, and secondary timbers like pine or oak behind mahogany drawer fronts. The brassware often displays original hand-cast pin fixings and natural patination.

A Georgian lowboy functions effectively as a hallway console, a bedside table, or an occasional desk. Pair it with a modern mirror mounted above or style the tabletop with contemporary ceramics and lighting to create balanced visual contrast.

Maintain mahogany furniture by dusting regularly with a soft dry microfibre cloth and applying a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year along the wood grain. Keep the table away from direct sunlight, radiators, and sudden changes in humidity to prevent timber movement or bleaching.
