Lancaster Antiques has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
This beautiful, and extremely heavy brass lamp base -( it weighs 7.8kgs) - has a cast iron weight inside the base where the Hinks trade mark is clearly visible.
This does hide the firm's trade mark but we can remove it if required.

The lamp measures 55.5 cm in height to the very tip of the lamp holder; the measurement to the top of the column is 49cm and the large three step base is approximately 20.5cm square.
It was probably the base of a Hinks oil lamp and converted into electricity many years ago. It has been rewired properly by us to UK specifications, threading the cable up through the column, whereas the previous owner wired it from the top of the column leaving the cable hanging down so there is a tiny drill hole on the ledge at the top. This can barely be seen and would be covered by a lampshade.

Because of the weight of the lamp please contact us for a quote for delivery, or if the buyer can collect from us in SW London we will pack it and offer a discount on the price. Alternatively if it is to go within easy reach of London or the south side of the M25 we may be able to deliver it ourselves, please ask.
